| Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. | Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. | What right do you have to pass judgment on someone else’s servant? The master will determine whether that servant will stand or fall. But the servant will be upheld, for the Lord has the power to enable him to stand. |
| There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. | Hence, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. |
| For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. | For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace. |
| Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. | Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you. |
| My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. | My life is in your hands; deliver me from the power of my enemies, from the clutches of those who pursue me. |

| Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. | Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he protects the souls of his faithful ones and rescues them from the hand of the wicked. |
| Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. | Therefore, he has the full power to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to intercede for them. |
| There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? | There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save or to destroy. Who then are you to pass judgment on a neighbor? |
