- It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in people. - I love you, Lord;
you are my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety. - The name of the Lord is a strong fortress;
the godly run to him and are safe. - For who is God except the Lord?
Who but our God is a solid rock? - The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him. - Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.

Defend the cause of orphans.
Fight for the rights of widows. - But the Lord will redeem those who serve him.
No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. - He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken. - He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him. - A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions.
The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. - They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
For the Lamb on the throne
will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes. - Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me.
Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me. - Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
- The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble. - He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. - God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
- And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one. - He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken. - It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
- For you bless the godly, O Lord;
you surround them with your shield of love. - “All right, you may test him,” the Lord said to Satan. “Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don’t harm him physically.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence.
- The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. - You light a lamp for me.
The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. - Seek the Lord, all who are humble,
and follow his commands.
Seek to do what is right
and to live humbly.
Perhaps even yet the Lord will protect you—
protect you from his anger on that day of destruction.
