Bible Verses about 'Proverbs 21:31'
- A man’s ways may seem right to him,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - To do what is right and just
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. - Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness
will find life and honor too. - All day long the godless man continues to covet,
whereas the righteous man gives unsparingly. - An honorable name is more to be desired than great riches,
and high esteem is preferable to silver and gold. - The reward of humility and fear of the Lord
is wealth, honor, and life. - Train a child in the way he should go,
and he will not deviate from it, even in old age. - The wealthy man lords it over the poor,
and the borrower becomes the slave of the lender. - Do not wear yourself out in the pursuit of wealth,
and cease even to think about it. - When you fix your gaze upon it,
it is gone before you realize it.
For it suddenly sprouts wings
and flies up to the sky like an eagle. - My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad. - The father of a good man will rejoice;
he who begets a wise son will delight in him. - In much the same manner
will wisdom be sweet to your soul.
If you find it, you will have a future,
and your hope will not be cut off. - Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless
is the man devoid of self-control. - Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your father,
and do not run to your brother’s house when troubles befall you;
far better is a friend nearby
than a brother who is far away. - The prudent man perceives danger and seeks shelter,
while the simple continue forward and pay the penalty. - As iron sharpens iron,
so a man sharpens the wits of his neighbor. - Just as water reflects one’s face,
so does one human heart reflect another. - When anyone turns a deaf ear to the law,
even his prayer is detestable. - No one who conceals his transgressions will prosper,
but one who confesses and renounces them will obtain mercy. - A fool gives free rein to his anger,
but a wise man bides his time and calms it. - A man’s pride will bring him low,
but lowly souls will rise to honor. - The fear of others will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is secure. - Every word of God has proved to be true;
he is a shield to those who trust in him. - Keep falsehood and lying far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but simply provide me with the food that I need. - Speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves,
and defend the rights of the destitute. - Speak out and pronounce righteous judgments;
defend the rights of the wretched and the poor. - Who can find a worthy wife?
She is far more precious than pearls. - Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting,
but the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools are those who despise wisdom and instruction. - If you would seriously consider my reproof,
I would pour out my thoughts to you
and make my precepts known to you. - For the Lord himself is the one who bestows wisdom;
from his mouth come forth knowledge and understanding. - He reserves his wisdom for the upright
and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. - For he guards the paths of justice
and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones. - Then you will understand equity and justice
as well as righteousness—every good path. - My son, do not forget my teaching,
but cherish my commandments in your heart,
for they will bring you length of days,
more years of life, and an abundance of prosperity. - Do not let kindness and fidelity leave you;
fasten them around your neck
and inscribe them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will gain favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man. - Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord
rather than relying on your own intelligence.
In everything you do, acknowledge him,
and he will see that your paths are straight. - Do not pride yourself on your own wisdom;
fear the Lord and turn your back on evil.
This will provide healing for your flesh
and restore strength to your body. - Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the firstfruits of all your crops. - My son, do not ignore the Lord’s discipline
or refuse to accept his rebuke.
For the Lord disciplines those whom he loves,
just as a father chastises a beloved son. - Blessed is the person who has found wisdom,
the one who has gained understanding. - Do not withhold kindness from anyone to whom it is due
when it is in your power to grant it. - Do not envy a violent man
or choose to emulate any of his ways.
For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord
whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright. - Acquire wisdom and gain understanding;
never forget or turn aside from my words. - The beginning of wisdom is: acquire wisdom,
and no matter what the cost, acquire understanding. - Listen, my son, and take my words to heart,
and the years of your life will be multiplied. - I have instructed you in the ways of wisdom
and led you along the paths of righteousness. - My son, concentrate attentively on my words;
pay heed to the instructions I pass on to you.
Do not let them slip from your mind;
keep them forever in your heart. - Guard your heart with all possible vigilance,
for from it flow the wellsprings of life.
