- Behold, as for the impudent one,
His soul is not right within him;
But the righteous one will live by his faith. - I have instructed you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you in upright paths. - Let your eyes look directly ahead
And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. - You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’; and you are correct, for so I am.
- The Lord is good and upright;
Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in justice,
And He teaches the humble His way. - For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
- To do righteousness and justice
Is preferred by the Lord more than sacrifice. - But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be in dread.
- One who walks with integrity, practices righteousness,
And speaks truth in his heart.
He does not slander with his tongue,
Nor do evil to his neighbor,
Nor bring shame on his friend. - Then you will discern righteousness, justice,
And integrity, and every good path. - Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary.
- Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
- A person has joy in an apt answer,
And how delightful is a timely word! - Vindicate the weak and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. - Sober up morally and stop sinning, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he grows older he will not abandon it. - Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just; and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.
- We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is only fitting, because your faith is increasing abundantly, and the love of each and every one of you toward one another grows ever greater.
- The Rock! His work is perfect,
For all His ways are just;
A God of faithfulness and without injustice,
Righteous and just is He. - The one who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat with My Father on His throne.
- And who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?
- All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things build people up.
- All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
- Better is a little with righteousness
Than great income with injustice. - He has told you, mortal one, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
