Bible Verses about 'Sin'
- The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
- Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.
- Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.”
- God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
- Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin condemns any people. - I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you. - Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave the guilt of my sin. - For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
- What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
- For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!

but the prudent hold their tongues. - “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.
- Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered. - For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
- And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
- What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
- But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
- All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
- So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
- Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

- Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.
Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
