- Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips
and spreads slander is a fool. - Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
- Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
- Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”
- You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.

but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. - Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.
- In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears. - I have not departed from the commands of his lips;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread. - They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
- Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool—
how much worse lying lips to a ruler! - “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the Lord’s holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
then you will find your joy in the Lord,
and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth. - For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips. - The Lord detests lying lips,
but he delights in people who are trustworthy. - I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. - I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
- And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
- Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
- If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.
- Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
- You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.
- In that day you will say:
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.”
