- I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God's gift to man.
- Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! - Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

- Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
- Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
- If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath,
from doing your pleasure on my holy day,
and call the Sabbath a delight
and the holy day of the Lord honorable;
if you honor it, not going your own ways,
or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly;
then you shall take delight in the Lord,
and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;
I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.
- Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers. - I delight to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart. - Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God.
- Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
cease to do evil. - The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing. - The prudent sees danger and hides himself,
but the simple go on and suffer for it. - Hear, my son, and accept my words,
that the years of your life may be many. - So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty.
- Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
- For I know that my Redeemer lives,
and at the last he will stand upon the earth.
