Therefore (4/4)

  • As for you, my child, take strength from the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
  • Therefore, take care to live as intelligent people, and do not be like those who are senseless. Make the most of the present time, for this is a wicked age.
  • Therefore, whenever you give alms, do not trumpet your generosity, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets in order to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have already received their reward.
  • Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment.
  • Exalted at God’s right hand, he received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
  • Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace when we are in need of help.
  • As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
  • Everyone who hears these words of mine and acts in accordance with them will be like a wise man who constructed his house on a rock foundation.
  • You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
  • You are truly my rock and my fortress;
    for the sake of your name, lead and guide me.
  • So today acknowledge it and take it to heart that the Lord is God in the heavens above and on the earth below. There is no other.
  • How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms.
  • But he answered me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” Hence, I will boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell within me.
  • For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin.
  • While Peter was thus imprisoned, the Church prayed fervently to God for him.
  • Now in regard to the eating of meat sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are nothing in the world and that there is only one God.
  • For this reason, I rejoice when I endure weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and distress for the sake of Christ. For it is when I am weak that I am strong.
  • Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from anything that can defile flesh or spirit, and thereby make our holiness perfect in the fear of God.
  • So we must not fall asleep as the others do, but we must stay alert and sober.
  • In everything, deal with others as you would like them to deal with you. This is the Law and the Prophets.
  • Banish grief from your heart
    and ignore the sufferings of your body,
    for youth and the prime of life are fleeting.
  • He continued, “Then put away the foreign gods from among you. Bend your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
  • Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar,
    praise and exalt and glorify
    the King of heaven.
    For all of his works are right,
    and all of his ways are just.
    Also, he is able to humble
    all those who follow the path of pride.
  • Pay to each person what is rightfully his—taxes to the one to whom taxes are due, tolls to the one to whom tolls are due, respect to the one to whom respect is due, honor to the one to whom honor is due.
  • But as for me, I will look to the Lord.
    I place my hope in God my savior;
    my God will hear me.
