- The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it. - So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.
- For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - Those who keep the commandment will live;
those who are heedless of their ways will die. - Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
- For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing at all during those days, and when they were over, he was famished.
- Consequently he is able for all time to save those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
- Shun youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
- Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.
- Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
- No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and present your members to God as instruments of righteousness.
- It is well with those who deal generously and lend,
who conduct their affairs with justice. - Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
- But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the human heart conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him” - Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
- Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace—
in peace because they trust in you. - For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died.
- A highway shall be there,
and it shall be called the Holy Way;
the unclean shall not travel on it,
but it shall be for God's people;
no traveler, not even fools, shall go astray. - For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it.
- If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
- The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. - And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
- For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.
- No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light.
