- Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

when it is in your power to do it. - Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord! - Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased! - For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
- And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
- Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
