Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. To this day I have had help from God, and so I stand here, testifying to both small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would take place: that the Messiah must suffer, and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.Riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might; and it is in your hand to make great and to give strength to all.
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.Come to a sober and right mind, and sin no more; for some people have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. The heart is devious above all else; it is perverse— who can understand it? I the Lord test the mind and search the heart, to give to all according to their ways, according to the fruit of their doings.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and observing his commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shall live and become numerous, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.
Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.“Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!”
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.
Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.
For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.I am hard pressed between the two: my desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better; but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you.
It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling. It is honorable to refrain from strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good.
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.
Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another.
In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury. In all toil there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death.

that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?
yea, they may forget,
yet will I not forget thee.
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands;
thy walls are continually before me.
