- You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.
- If another disciple sins, you must rebuke the offender, and if there is repentance, you must forgive. And if the same person sins against you seven times a day, and turns back to you seven times and says, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive.

for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure. - The Lord is with you, while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.
- A cheerful heart is a good medicine,
but a downcast spirit dries up the bones. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever. - O God, you are my God, I seek you,
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. - In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
- If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
- Little children, you are from God, and have conquered them; for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
- When they bring you to trial and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say; but say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated.
- And baptism, which this prefigured, now saves you—not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- Better is a little that the righteous person has
than the abundance of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous. - Because you are precious in my sight,
and honored, and I love you,
I give people in return for you,
nations in exchange for your life. - I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
- How much more valuable is a human being than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the sabbath.
