- Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
- Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
- Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil.
- The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
- Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
- Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be a healing for your flesh
and a refreshment for your body. - When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil ways, God changed his mind about the calamity that he had said he would bring upon them; and he did not do it.
- Put away from you crooked speech,
and put devious talk far from you. - Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).
- And he said, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
- Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me. - As servants of God, live as free people, yet do not use your freedom as a pretext for evil.
- For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. - For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disorder and wickedness of every kind.
- If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
- The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time on and forevermore. - Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.
- For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.
- Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right,
and speak the truth from their heart;
who do not slander with their tongue,
and do no evil to their friends,
nor take up a reproach against their neighbors. - Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.
- Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way,
over those who carry out evil devices. - Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today.
- Do not be deceived:
“Bad company ruins good morals.” - For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
