- The grapevines have dried up,
and the fig trees have withered.
The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees—
all the fruit trees—have dried up.
And the people’s joy has dried up with them. - For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
- Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven.
- I cried out, “I am slipping!”
but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. - He heals the brokenhearted
and bandages their wounds. - So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
- When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
- Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
- We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
- I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there. - And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.
- Let your favor shine on your servant.
In your unfailing love, rescue me. - Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.
- For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.
- Others were given in exchange for you.
I traded their lives for yours
because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you. - A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare. - You have given me your shield of victory.
Your right hand supports me;
your help has made me great.
You have made a wide path for my feet
to keep them from slipping. - The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
- When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
- I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. - If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.
- Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”
- So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
- Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
- Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers!
