to the glory of God the Father. - When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!
- Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good. - How joyful are those who fear the Lord—
all who follow his ways! - And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.
- Victory comes from you, O Lord.
May you bless your people. - Arise, O Lord!
Punish the wicked, O God!
Do not ignore the helpless! - For who is God except the Lord?
Who but our God is a solid rock? - We can make our plans,
but the Lord determines our steps. - So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?” - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
