So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” | So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. |
Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments. | Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. |
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him. | The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. |
Our steps are made firm by the Lord, when he delights in our way. | The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. |
Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one destined for destruction. Fools show their anger at once, but the prudent ignore an insult. | A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame. |
How happy is the one whom God reproves; therefore do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. | Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. |
The clever see danger and hide; but the simple go on, and suffer for it. | A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished. |
But Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” | But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. |
All deeds are right in the sight of the doer, but the Lord weighs the heart. | Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts. |
Surely there is no one on earth so righteous as to do good without ever sinning. | For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. |
