Sin (3/5)

Everyone who commits sin is a child of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but the prudent are restrained in speech.Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.
Come to a sober and right mind, and sin no more; for some people have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.
I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance.I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
But the scripture has imprisoned all things under the power of sin, so that what was promised through faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
I treasure your word in my heart, so that I may not sin against you.I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.
Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.
Those who keep the commandment will live; those who are heedless of their ways will die.Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life, but whoever shows contempt for their ways will die.
No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and present your members to God as instruments of righteousness.Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.
But if the wicked turn away from all their sins that they have committed and keep all my statutes and do what is lawful and right, they shall surely live; they shall not die.But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.
That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
You want something and do not have it; so you commit murder. And you covet something and cannot obtain it; so you engage in disputes and conflicts. You do not have, because you do not ask.You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright, but destruction for evildoers. The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.
I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.
In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same intention (for whoever has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin). Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.
Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of your possession? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in showing clemency.Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
The wicked earn no real gain, but those who sow righteousness get a true reward.A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
Therefore whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed from the housetops. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.
