Sin (3/6)

  • “Come now, and let’s reason together,” says Yahweh:
“Though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
  • Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a disgrace to any people.
  • In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience,
but he who restrains his lips does wisely.

that I might not sin against you.
  • I acknowledged my sin to you.
    I didn’t hide my iniquity.
I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh,
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

    Cease to do evil.
  • But if the wicked turns from all his sins that he has committed, and keeps all my statutes, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. He shall not die.
  • The way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright,
but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

Return to me, for I have redeemed you.
  • Namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation.
  • In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
  • You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask.
  • When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
  • Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us.
  • But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
  • As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
