Strength (2/2)

  • It was not their own swords that won them the land,
    nor did their own arms make them victorious;
    rather, it was your right hand and your arm
    and the light of your face,
    because you loved them.
  • Ever since the creation of the world the invisible attributes of God’s eternal power and divine nature have been clearly understood and perceived through the things he has made. Therefore, the conduct of these people is inexcusable.
  • For it is in him that the entire fullness of deity dwells in bodily form, and you share this fullness in him who is the head of every ruler and power.
  • As for you, my child, take strength from the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
  • And where a single man can be overcome,
    two together will be able to resist.

    you reign over all.
    In your hand are power and might;
    it to is in your hand make great and to give strength to all.
  • Who has performed these deeds and accomplished this?
    Who has summoned the nations from the beginning?

  • But the Almighty we cannot find;
    he is unequaled in power and judgment,
    and in his righteousness he will not violate justice.
  • His divine power has bestowed on us everything that is necessary for life and for devotion through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue.
  • For I am longing to see you so that I may bestow on you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or, rather, so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
  • But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem, but throughout Judea and Samaria, and indeed to the farthest ends of the earth.
  • I will strengthen the house of Judah,
    and I will save the house of Joseph.
    I will bring them back
    because I have taken pity on them,
    and they will be
    as though I had never cast them off;
    for I am the Lord, their God,
    and I will answer them.
  • The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the child to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.”
  • And ‘to love him with all your heart, and with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself,’ is worth more than any burnt offerings and sacrifices.
  • The Lord is slow to anger but great in power,
    and he will never allow the guilty
    to escape punishment.
    He makes his way in whirlwind and storm,
    and the clouds are the dust beneath his feet.
