Chinese (traditional)Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures. But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ. For who is God except the Lord?
And who is a rock besides our God? This God—his way is perfect;
the promise of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all who take refuge in him. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire other than you. For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. Because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. He is the reflection of God's glory and the exact imprint of God's very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Consequently he is able for all time to save those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. For it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall give praise to God.” You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish. For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost. Who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began. For I know that my Redeemer lives,
and that at the last he will stand upon the earth. Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. And it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Pay to all what is due them—taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due. I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you.
