Chinese (traditional)“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “the one who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Bless the Lord, O my soul;
my entire being, bless his holy name. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you. God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him. Anyone who has received my commandments
and observes them
is the one who loves me.
And whoever loves me
will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him
and reveal myself to him. Let no one delude himself. If anyone among you considers himself to be wise by worldly standards, he must become a fool in order to be truly wise. So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. It is honorable to avoid strife,
but every fool is quarrelsome. However, the gift is not like the transgression. For if the transgression of one man led to the death of the many, how much greater was the overflowing effect of the grace of God and the gift of the one man Jesus Christ that has abounded for the many. Do not seek to adorn yourself externally—by the braiding of your hair and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothing. Rather, let your adornment be of your inner self, the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in uprightness, so that the man of God may be proficient and equipped for good work of every kind. When pride is nurtured, disgrace soon follows,
but wisdom is the hallmark of the humble. We have come to know
and to believe in
the love that God has for us.
God is love,
and whoever abides in love
abides in God,
and God in him. Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops. The lips of a fool cause strife,
and his mouth provokes a flogging. A gift opens doors for the giver
and wins him access to the powerful. What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life? Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited. For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. There is one body and one Spirit, as well as one hope to which you have been called by your vocation. I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ Bless those who persecute you; bless them and do not curse them. Do not repay evil with evil or abuse with abuse. On the contrary, repay with a blessing. This is what you were called to do, so that you might inherit a blessing. May the Lord guide your hearts to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ. By faith Abraham also received the power of procreation, even though he was well past the age—and Sarah herself was barren—because he believed that the one who had made the promise would be faithful in fulfilling it. For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin. An ignorant man causes strife by his insolence,
but wisdom is found with those who take advice. Even though the fig tree does not blossom
and there is no fruit on the vines,
even though the olive crop will fail
and the orchards will yield no food,
even though the flock is cut off from the fold
and there is no herd in the stalls,
I will continue to rejoice in the Lord,
and exult in the God of my salvation. For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Spirit, and those of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh. They are in conflict with one another, so that you cannot do what you want. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;
whoever does not believe in the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God rests upon him. He did not spare his own Son but gave him up for all of us. How then can he fail also to give us everything else along with him? If someone among you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault, and it will be given to him.Next verse!With image
