Bible Verses about Punishment

My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; The simple pass on and are punished.
All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law.
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
If anyone sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though they do not know it, they are guilty and will be held responsible. If a person sins, and commits any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord, though he does not know it, yet he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity.
But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.
Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned. But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment.
Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. The Lord watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.

When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong.Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
