17 Bible Verses about Punishment - NIV & ESV

My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline or be weary of his reproof, for the Lord reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.
The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.
All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
If anyone sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though they do not know it, they are guilty and will be held responsible. If anyone sins, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, though he did not know it, then realizes his guilt, he shall bear his iniquity.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned. But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.
Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves; therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty.
Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
ESV | law
God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
