Righteousness (3/5)

For God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.
Better is a little that the righteous person has than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.It is better to be godly and have little than to be evil and rich. For the strength of the wicked will be shattered, but the Lord takes care of the godly.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my whole being shall exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels.
In you, O Lord, I seek refuge; do not let me ever be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me.O Lord, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me, for you do what is right.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.
Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other.
The Lord is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings.The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness.
You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
Do not envy the violent and do not choose any of their ways; for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but he offers his friendship to the godly.
Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.The godly are showered with blessings; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.
For just as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
Then Peter began to speak to them: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.”
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk blamelessly.He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my supplications in your faithfulness; answer me in your righteousness.Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous.
Happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord.Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord.
Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way.
Give justice to the weak and the orphan; maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute.Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.
But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.

I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.

God gives the desolate a home to live in;
he leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
but the rebellious live in a parched land.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me.
