- So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.
- For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful. If you return to him, he will not continue to turn his face from you.
- For the Scriptures say,
“If you want to enjoy life
and see many happy days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies.
Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace, and work to maintain it.” - But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my decrees and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die.
- “Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
- We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us.
- I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.
- I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.
- So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.
- Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones. - The grapevines have dried up,
and the fig trees have withered.
The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees—
all the fruit trees—have dried up.
And the people’s joy has dried up with them. - Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord.
Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
so that we may offer you our praises.” - If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
- Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears;
wealth from hard work grows over time. - I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
- But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.
- But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil.
- O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. - This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
- And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.
- So also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.
- Wash yourselves and be clean!
Get your sins out of my sight.
Give up your evil ways. - They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
For the Lamb on the throne
will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes. - Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil. - That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
