  • When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

    They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
    with roots that reach deep into the water.
    Such trees are not bothered by the heat
    or worried by long months of drought.
    Their leaves stay green,
    and they never stop producing fruit.
  • Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!
  • Too much talk leads to sin.
    Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
  • No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
  • And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!
  • But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
  • But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.

  • The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
  • The human heart is the most deceitful of all things,
    and desperately wicked.
    Who really knows how bad it is?
    But I, the Lord, search all hearts
    and examine secret motives.
    I give all people their due rewards,
    according to what their actions deserve.
  • You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
  • But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
  • It is the same with my word.
    I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
    It will accomplish all I want it to,
    and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
  • Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord.
    Say to him,
    “Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
    so that we may offer you our praises.”

  • Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
  • But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.
  • Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
  • We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.
    God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
  • The grapevines have dried up,
    and the fig trees have withered.
    The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees—
    all the fruit trees—have dried up.
    And the people’s joy has dried up with them.
  • Then the Lord God said, “Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!” So the Lord God banished them from the Garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate the ground from which he had been made.
  • For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.
  • Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
  • But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.
