- Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
- The fear of the Lord provides instruction in wisdom,
and to be humble is the way to honor. - The Lord abhors lying lips,
but he delights in those who are truthful. - The fear of others will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is secure. - Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
proclaim his deeds among the peoples. - Consequently, anyone united to Christ is a new creation. The old order has passed away. Behold, all has become new.
- Place your hope in the Lord:
be strong and courageous in your heart,
and place your hope in the Lord. - The name of the Lord is a tower of strength;
the upright man runs to it and finds refuge. - The Lord God made clothing for the man and woman out of animal skins and he clothed them.
- Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.
- In my anguish I cried out;
the Lord heard my plea,
and I was saved from all my troubles. - For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. - Seek peace with everyone, as well as the holiness without which no one will ever see the Lord.
- The misfortunes of the righteous man are many,
but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. - May the Lord guide your hearts to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ.
- Great is the Lord and worthy of the highest praise;
no one can even begin to comprehend his greatness. - For the Lord himself is the one who bestows wisdom;
from his mouth come forth knowledge and understanding. - I keep the Lord always before me,
for with him at my right hand
I will never fall. - Arise and shine forth, for your light has come
and the glory of the Lord has dawned upon you. - For the Lord is our judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver.
The Lord is our king;
he is the one who will save us. - The Lord God said, “Behold, man has become like one of us, for he has knowledge of that which is good and that which is evil. Now, we must prevent him from reaching out and taking the fruit of the tree of life lest he eat it and live forever.” The Lord God cast him out of the Garden of Eden; henceforth he was to labor tilling the soil from which he had come.
- The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright,
but destruction for evildoers. - Sing praise to the Lord for his mighty deeds;
let this be known throughout the entire world. - Therefore, we can say with confidence:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can anyone do to me?” - Alleluia.
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his precepts.
