Everyone (2/3)

  • But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
  • May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.
  • “And with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
    and, “You reward everyone
    according to what they have done.”
  • For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
  • Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
  • Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
  • Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
  • But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.
  • You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
  • Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
  • The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
  • Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
  • As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
  • For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  • Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
  • Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.
  • For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
  • Now all has been heard;
    here is the conclusion of the matter:
    Fear God and keep his commandments,
    for this is the duty of all mankind.
  • Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.
  • He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
  • The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
  • Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.
  • A person finds joy in giving an apt reply—
    and how good is a timely word!
  • No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
  • They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.

Bible verse of the day

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.
