Bible Verses about 'Flesh'

  • What is born of the flesh is flesh,
and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.
  • Whoever feeds upon my flesh and drinks my blood
dwells in me and I dwell in him.
  • Those who live according to the flesh can never be pleasing to God.
  • Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things.
  • For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Spirit, and those of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh. They are in conflict with one another, so that you cannot do what you want.
  • Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you should arm yourselves also with the same intention. For anyone who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin.
  • The Lord God then formed a woman out of the rib that he had taken from the man. He brought her before the man.
    The man said,
“This one is bone of my bones
    and flesh of my flesh.
    She shall be called woman
because she was taken from man.”
This is why a man leaves his father and his mother and joins with a wife, and the two become one flesh.
  • Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
  • The one who sows in his flesh will reap a harvest of corruption, but the one who sows in the Spirit will reap from the Spirit the reward of eternal life.
  • Even should my heart and my flesh fail,
God is the rock of my heart
    and my portion forever.
  • Rather, put on the Lord Jesus Christ and allow no opportunity for the flesh to gratify its sinful desires.
  • The desires of the flesh result in death, but the desires of the Spirit result in life and peace.
  • Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak.
  • I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you. I will remove from your body a heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh in its place.
  • For this reason
a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh.
  • I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
    Whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh, for the life of the world.
  • Although we are human beings, we do not engage in battle according to human standards.
  • And the Word became flesh
    and dwelt among us.
    And we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only Son,
    full of grace and truth.
  • But from the very beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh.’ And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.
  • For everything that is in the world—
    the concupiscence of the flesh,
    the concupiscence of the eyes,
    and the pride of life—
    comes not from the Father
    but from the world.
  • He replied, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said: ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh’? And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
  • For we are not struggling against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, the powers, and the cosmic rulers of this present darkness, and against the spirits of evil in the heavens.
  • Brethren, you were called to freedom. However, make sure that you do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Instead, serve one another in love.
  • I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything impossible for me to accomplish?
  • Do not pride yourself on your own wisdom;
fear the Lord and turn your back on evil.
This will provide healing for your flesh
and restore strength to your body.

Without any doubt, the mystery of our religion is great:
He was made visible in the flesh,
vindicated by the Spirit,
seen by angels,
proclaimed to the Gentiles,
believed in throughout the world,
taken up in glory.

Bible verse of the day

This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared
to lay down our lives for our brethren.
