- After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
- Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. - “Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
- About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
- If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

- For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous

but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
- If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
- When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord;
he brought me into a spacious place. - They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
- Take words with you
and return to the Lord.
Say to him:
“Forgive all our sins
and receive us graciously,
that we may offer the fruit of our lips.” - Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
- Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.
- May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
- But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
- And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
- Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun. - I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.
- To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
to the blameless you show yourself blameless. - I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
- When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
- Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
- One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
A gift opens the way
and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
