- Nor would someone light a lamp and then put it under a basket; rather, it is placed upon a lampstand so that it may afford light to all in the house. In the same way, your light must shine so that it can be seen by others; this will enable them to observe your good works and give praise to your Father in heaven.
- One who forgives a misdeed fosters friendship,
but he who divulges it separates good friends. - I am now about to go the way of all upon the earth. You know very well in your hearts and your souls that not one of the good things that the Lord, your God, promised you has failed to take place. Every promise has been fulfilled, not one of them has been broken.
- The future bodes well for him
who is generous in helping those in need
and who conducts his affairs with justice. - Whoever gains wisdom loves his own soul;
one who cherishes understanding will prosper. - I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. Now waiting for me is the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day—and not only to me, but to all those who have eagerly longed for his appearance.
- I understand that man’s greatest happiness is to be glad and do well throughout his life. And when we eat and drink and find satisfaction in all our labors, this is a gift of God.
- For light produces all goodness and righteousness and truth.
- The Lord God said, “Behold, man has become like one of us, for he has knowledge of that which is good and that which is evil. Now, we must prevent him from reaching out and taking the fruit of the tree of life lest he eat it and live forever.” The Lord God cast him out of the Garden of Eden; henceforth he was to labor tilling the soil from which he had come.
- The time of fulfillment has arrived, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.
- And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good.
- The Lord commanded us to observe all of these statutes and to fear the Lord, our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, even as we are today.
- The one who pays heed to instruction prospers,
and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. - Beloved, I pray that everything is going well with you and that your bodily health is equal to that of your soul.
- Let no foul word ever pass your lips. Say only what is useful for edification, so that your words may benefit your listeners.
- Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.”
- For the carved images of the nations are powerless;
they are nothing more than wood cut from a forest,
fashioned with a knife by craftsmen
and embellished with silver and gold.
Then they are fastened with hammers and nails
to prevent them from toppling.
Like scarecrows in a cucumber field
they are unable to speak,
and they must be carried from place to place
since they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they can do no harm,
nor do they have any power to do good. - The Lord makes a man’s steps secure
when he approves of his conduct. - May the God of peace—who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant— make you perfect in every respect so that you may do his will. And may he enable us to achieve what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
- Be strong and courageous in your hearts,
all you who place your hope in the Lord. - As for me, I do not regard my life as of any value, only that I finish the race and complete the mission that I received from the Lord Jesus—to bear witness to the gospel of God’s grace.
- Exhort slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give them satisfaction in every respect. They are not to talk back to them, nor are they to steal from them. Rather, they should show themselves to be completely trustworthy so that in every way they may add luster to the doctrine of God our Savior.
- You believe that there is one God. You do well to assert that. But even the demons believe and tremble.
- It was for this purpose that he called you through our gospel so that you might come to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Place your hope in the Lord:
be strong and courageous in your heart,
and place your hope in the Lord.
