| The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise. | The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. |
| When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. | When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. |
| So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. | For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. |
| But the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! | I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. | Of all the marine animals, you may eat whatever has both fins and scales. You may not, however, eat marine animals that do not have both fins and scales. | For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God. | For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. |
| So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. | There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. |
| So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this! | Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. |
| So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. | Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. |
| For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ | For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. |
| Take care of any widow who has no one else to care for her. | Honour widows that are widows indeed. |
| But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers. | But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. |
| When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin. | And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing. |
| This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here. | Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. |
