Bible Verses about 'Helping the poor'
- Blessed are the poor in spirit,

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners. - Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice. - John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”
- Surely God is my help;
the Lord is the one who sustains me. - Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up. - Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.
- So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
- God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. - Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God.
Do not forget the helpless. - For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
- God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,

and your right hand sustains me;
your help has made me great.
You provide a broad path for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way. - And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.

giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes. - The Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous. - Help us, God our Savior,
for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
for your name’s sake. - The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. - For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you. - Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
- The name of the righteous is used in blessings,
but the name of the wicked will rot. - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
- The prospect of the righteous is joy,
but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. - And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

Surely the people’s joy
is withered away. - Blessings crown the head of the righteous,
but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value.
