Bible Verses about 'Helping the poor'
- Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- The rich rules over the poor,
and the borrower is the slave of the lender. - Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
he brings low and he exalts. - The ransom of a man's life is his wealth,
but a poor man hears no threat. - This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles. - What is desired in a man is steadfast love,
and a poor man is better than a liar. - Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

and the fatherless who had none to help him.
The blessing of him who was about to perish came upon me,
and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. - As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.
- Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed. - Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.
- The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. - If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

who conducts his affairs with justice. - And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”

who made heaven and earth. - I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth. - Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.

a very present help in trouble. - Behold, God is my helper;
the Lord is the upholder of my life. - The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
