- By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
- Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love. - Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! - As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. - For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
- And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.
- You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you.
- Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments! - He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
- Do not envy a man of violence
and do not choose any of his ways,
for the devious person is an abomination to the Lord,
but the upright are in his confidence. - And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
- But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
- A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back. - Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
- And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
- And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
- Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
- A fool's lips walk into a fight,
and his mouth invites a beating. - And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
- For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever! - But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
- So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.”
- No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
- By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
