- And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
- But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’
- By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

- But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love. - And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife.
- The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
- The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear him. - Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.
- What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,
whose people he has chosen as his inheritance. - Praise the Lord!

and delight in obeying his commands. - You must not covet your neighbor’s house. You must not covet your neighbor’s wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.
- I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.

I have followed his ways and not turned aside. - I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

and his ears are open to their prayers.

All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.
