His (4/4)

  • So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.
  • The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
    and his ears are open to their prayers.
    But the Lord turns his face
    against those who do evil.
  • We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
  • The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
  • For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
  • He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
  • Don’t envy violent people
    or copy their ways.
    Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord,
    but he offers his friendship to the godly.
  • So God created human beings in his own image.
    In the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.
  • For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
  • And he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side. The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’
  • No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
  • And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.
  • The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense;
    they imagine it to be a high wall of safety.
  • A wise child brings joy to a father;
    a foolish child brings grief to a mother.
  • So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
  • We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us.
  • God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
  • They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him. They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head, and they placed a reed stick in his right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!”
  • If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
  • God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
  • Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.
  • This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
  • If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
