I am the alpha and omega (2/4)

  • I have been the Lord your God
ever since I brought you out of Egypt.
You must acknowledge no God but me,
for there is no other savior.
  • Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.
  • For I hold you by your right hand—
    I, the Lord your God.
    And I say to you,
‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’
  • That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
  • He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!”
    Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
  • I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.
  • Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness
while I am here in the land of the living.
  • Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
  • Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
  • Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.
  • Who has done such mighty deeds,
summoning each new generation from the beginning of time?
It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last.
    I alone am he.
  • For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.
  • The Lord says,
“I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help.
I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me.
I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’
to a nation that did not call on my name.”
  • But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”
  • Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.
  • O Israel, my faithless people,
    come home to me again,
    for I am merciful.
I will not be angry with you forever.
  • I am counting on the Lord;
yes, I am counting on him.
I have put my hope in his word.
  • Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
  • Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”
I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
  • Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.
  • I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
  • “Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
  • And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
  • Hear my prayer, O Lord!
Listen to my cries for help!
    Don’t ignore my tears.
    For I am your guest—
    a traveler passing through,
as my ancestors were before me.
  • Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you.

I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!
