| God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. | For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. |
| And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? | For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? |
| If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. | If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. |

But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’” | Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” |
| So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom. | Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. |
| In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short. | So shall the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul; If you have found it, there is a prospect, And your hope will not be cut off. |
| And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. | Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. |
| The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. | For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. |
| Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling. | It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel. |
| The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. | Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. |
| Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. | And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. |
| Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? | What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? |
| The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. | The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. |
| You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. | Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. |
| Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. | In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. |
| The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe. | The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. |
| Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! | A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! |
| So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other. | Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the Lord Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. |
