- But as for me, I will look to the Lord.
I place my hope in God my savior;
my God will hear me. - I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have life. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or how tall he stands, for the Lord has rejected him. He does not see the way that men see, for men look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
- And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God.
- I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. - Jesus answered him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him
and make our abode with him.” - What then shall we say? Should we persist in sin in order that grace may abound? Of course not! We have died to sin. How can we live in it any longer?
- All day long the godless man continues to covet,
whereas the righteous man gives unsparingly. - He was despised and shunned by others,
a man of sorrows who was no stranger to suffering.
We loathed him and regarded him as of no account,
as one from whom men avert their gaze. - As long as I remained silent,
my body wasted away
as the result of my groaning throughout the day. - Guide me in your truth and instruct me,
for you are God, my Savior,
and in you I hope all the day long. - One who is covetous will never be satisfied with money,
nor will the lover of wealth be content with gain.
This too is vanity. - For I am longing to see you so that I may bestow on you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or, rather, so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
- For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life. - Seek the Lord,
all you humble of the land
who obey his commands.
Seek righteousness, seek humility;
then perhaps you may find shelter
on the day of the Lord’s anger. - Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may advance on the path to salvation.
- Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited.
- Therefore say to them, “Thus says the Lord God: The fulfillment of my words will not be delayed any longer. What I have said will be done now. This is the word of the Lord God.”
- This rather is the type of fast that I wish:
to loosen the fetters of injustice,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to set free those who are oppressed
and to break every yoke. - Each person should give as much as he has decided in his heart, not with reluctance or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
- Adulterers! Do you not know that love of the world results in enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
- Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her in order to sanctify her by cleansing her with water and the word.
- But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, as he promised he would be. Come and see the place where he lay.”
- Be on your guard that you do not lose what we have worked to accomplish so that you will receive your reward in full.
- Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
