Make (4/4)

  • You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.
  • You want something and do not have it; so you commit murder. And you covet something and cannot obtain it; so you engage in disputes and conflicts. You do not have, because you do not ask.
  • Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.
  • The human mind plans the way,
    but the Lord directs the steps.
  • Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning,
    for in you I put my trust.
    Teach me the way I should go,
    for to you I lift up my soul.
  • But I with the voice of thanksgiving
    will sacrifice to you;
    what I have vowed I will pay.
    Deliverance belongs to the Lord!
  • As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
  • The human mind may devise many plans,
    but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.
  • Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today.
  • But I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified.
  • The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do this.
  • A soft answer turns away wrath,
    but a harsh word stirs up anger.
  • For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another.
  • Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of another.
  • For I am longing to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or rather so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
  • Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior.
  • You have given me the shield of your salvation,
    and your right hand has supported me;
    your help has made me great.
    You gave me a wide place for my steps under me,
    and my feet did not slip.
  • Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.
  • Come now, let us argue it out,
    says the Lord:
    though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be like snow;
    though they are red like crimson,
    they shall become like wool.
  • Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
  • For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!”
  • I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
  • Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.
  • For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.
  • For not by their own sword did they win the land,
    nor did their own arm give them victory;
    but your right hand, and your arm,
    and the light of your countenance,
    for you delighted in them.

One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and one whose temper is controlled than one who captures a city.

Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.Next verse!With image
