Man (4/4)

But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
And he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side. The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart.Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.
Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins. For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling. It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words. The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.
People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness. He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense; they imagine it to be a high wall of safety. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
The wicked borrow and never repay, but the godly are generous givers. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity. With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright.
“They will be my people,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “On the day when I act in judgment, they will be my own special treasure. I will spare them as a father spares an obedient child.”And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but he offers his friendship to the godly.Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
