- Even though the fig tree does not blossom
and there is no fruit on the vines,
even though the olive crop will fail
and the orchards will yield no food,
even though the flock is cut off from the fold
and there is no herd in the stalls,
I will continue to rejoice in the Lord,
and exult in the God of my salvation. - Consider the ravens. They do not sow or reap, they have no storehouse or barn, and yet God feeds them. You are of far greater importance than birds.
- There is no holy one like the Lord,
there is none beside you,
nor is there a rock like our God. - Therefore, you must also be prepared, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
- Above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth, or use any oaths at all. Let your “Yes” mean “Yes” and your “No” mean “No.” Otherwise you may be condemned.
- Jesus replied,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father
except through me.” - May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
- I am the Lord, your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
You know no God but me,
nor any savior other than me. - Seek peace with everyone, as well as the holiness without which no one will ever see the Lord.
- No one has ever seen God,
but if we love one another,
God abides in us,
and his love is made complete in us. - Jesus looked at them and said, “For men this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”
- During the day the Lord grants his kindness,
and at night his praise is with me,
a prayer to the living God. - You will show me the path to life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence
and everlasting delights at your right hand. - But what I tell you is this: Do not swear at all, either by heaven, since it is God’s throne, or by earth, since that is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, since that is the city of the great King.
- I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God. Repent and live!
- Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. For God all things are possible.”
- And every day, both in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming Jesus as the Christ.
- Let your kindness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
- No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a pot or places it under a bed. Rather he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.
- And now, dear children,
abide in him,
so that when he appears
we may have confidence
and not be put to shame by him
at his coming. - When the command is given, at the sound of the archangel’s voice and the call of God’s trumpet, the Lord himself will descend from heaven, and those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise. Then those of us who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them on clouds in the air to meet the Lord. And so, we will be with the Lord forever.
- I will walk in complete freedom
because I have sought your commands. - If a man has recently been married, he is not to go off to battle nor have any other duty laid on him. He will be free to stay at home for one year so that he can bring happiness to the wife whom he has married.
- God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.
- Take no part in the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather seek to expose them.
For it is shameful even to speak of what deeds people do in secret.
