- You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. The prophet has spoken presumptuously, you should not fear him.
- Do not love the world
or what is in the world.
If anyone does love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. - I was eager to respond
to those who did not consult me.
I was anxious to be approached
by those who did not seek me.
I said, “Here I am! Here I am!”
to a nation that did not summon me. - Do not be afraid or dismayed, the Lord will go before you; he will not fail or forsake you.
- I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
- Peace I leave with you,
my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives
do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled;
be not afraid. - Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A person will reap only what he sows.
- When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
nor will the waters engulf you.
When you walk through fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not consume you. - I will make haste and not delay
to observe your precepts. - Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time.
- A truthful witness does not lie,
but a false witness lies incessantly. - “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything.
- Fix your thoughts on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.
- But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
- Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill them.
- As long as the goodwill is present, the gift will be acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
- For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace.
- Jesus answered them,
“My teaching is not my own;
rather, it comes from him who sent me.” - Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord.
I will not look upon you in anger.
For I am merciful, says the Lord;
my wrath will not continue forever. - Those who place their hope in the Lord
will regain their strength.
They will soar as with eagles’ wings,
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not become faint. - Arise, O Lord! Lift up your hand, O God!
Do not forget the afflicted. - For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith. This has not come from you but from the gift of God. It does not come from works, so that no one can boast.
- You want something that you cannot have, so you commit murder. And you covet something but cannot obtain it, so you engage in quarrels and fights. You do not have because you do not ask.
- For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. - Dear children,
let us love not in word or speech
but in deed and truth.
