- He that hath no rule over his own spirit
is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. - Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
- Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy:
for thou renderest to every man
according to his work. - Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
- But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
- Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. - Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
- Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
- If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
- Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
- We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
- For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
- If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
- For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
- For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
- But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
- He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
- He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law,
even his prayer shall be abomination. - Who will render to every man according to his deeds.
- Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
- But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
- If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
- And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
- Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
A fool's wrath is presently known:
but a prudent man covereth shame.Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
