and anyone who slanders another is a fool. - Just as you do not know the path of the wind
or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb,
so you do not know the work of God,
the Creator of all. - A man’s attraction is his kindness;
it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. - Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away,
but when amassed little by little, it will increase. - The Lord is slow to anger but great in power,
and he will never allow the guilty
to escape punishment.
He makes his way in whirlwind and storm,
and the clouds are the dust beneath his feet. - He gives a home to those who are forsaken
and leads out prisoners amid chants of exultation,
while rebels are forced to live in an arid land. - And the one who searches hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.
- Hatred stirs up strife,
but love overlooks all offenses. - Righteousness is a sign of a nation’s greatness,
but sin degrades any people. - What is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him? - In the same way, even the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs that cannot be put into words.
- A cheerful heart is excellent medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. - There is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing secret that will not become known.
- Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
- Everyone who sins breaks the law,
for sin is lawlessness. - Anyone who leads an honorable life walks in safety,
but whoever pursues wicked ways will be found out. - And if we know that he hears us
in regard to whatever we ask him,
we may be sure
that all we ask of him will be ours. - But I know that my Redeemer lives,
and that at the end he will stand upon the dust. - This is what love is:
not that we have loved God,
but that he loved us
and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. - Continue in all of the ways that the Lord, your God, has commanded you. Continue in them so that you may live and prosper and that you may long dwell on the land of your inheritance.
- When you fix your gaze upon it,
it is gone before you realize it.
For it suddenly sprouts wings
and flies up to the sky like an eagle. - No prophecy ever came from human initiative. Rather, when people spoke as messengers of God, they did so under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
- Beloved, I pray that everything is going well with you and that your bodily health is equal to that of your soul.
- I have told you these things
so that my joy may be in you
and your joy may be complete. - Go and learn what this text means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
- Be on your guard that you do not lose what we have worked to accomplish so that you will receive your reward in full.
- Do not judge, so that you in turn may not be judged.
