Bible Verses about 'Sin'

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law.
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.Everyone who sins breaks the law, for sin is lawlessness.
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.”Jesus replied, “Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.”
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.He made him who did not know sin to be sin for our sake, so that through him we might become the righteousness of God.
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.Righteousness is a sign of a nation’s greatness, but sin degrades any people.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.I treasure your word in my heart for fear that I may sin against you.
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I made no attempt to conceal my guilt. I said, “I will confess my offenses to the Lord,” and you removed the guilt of my sin. Selah
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? What then shall we say? Should we persist in sin in order that grace may abound? Of course not! We have died to sin. How can we live in it any longer?
For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace.
When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! What then? Should we sin because we are not under the Law but under grace? Of course not!
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift freely given by God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.Blessed is the one whose offense is forgiven, whose sin is erased.
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. If you are angry, do not sin. Do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not give the devil an opening.
Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.Where many words are spoken, sin is not absent, but whoever restrains his tongue is prudent.
And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Therefore, I tell you that every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”What then should we say? That the Law is sinful? Absolutely not! Yet if it had not been for the Law, I would not have known what sin was. I would not have known what covet is if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall also be united with him in his resurrection. We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that our sinful body might be destroyed and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. However, now that you have been freed from sin and bound to the service of God, the benefit you receive is sanctification, and the end is eternal life.
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. However, if we live in the light as he himself is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son purifies us from all sin.
But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. But according to Scripture all things have been confined under sin, so that through faith in Jesus Christ what was promised might be given to those who believe.
Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you should arm yourselves also with the same intention. For anyone who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin.
So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Hence, as sin’s reign resulted in death, so the grace of God also might reign through righteousness resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tested in every respect as we are, but without sinning.

All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.All those who have sinned outside the Law will perish outside the Law, and all who sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law.
