- And whoever does not provide for relatives, especially for those who are living with him, has disowned the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
- He reserves his wisdom for the upright
and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. - The Lord abhors lying lips,
but he delights in those who are truthful. - As a father has compassion for his children,
so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. - The Lord is good,
an unfailing refuge in a time of distress.
He takes care of those who place their trust in him. - And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much.
- Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar,
praise and exalt and glorify
the King of heaven.
For all of his works are right,
and all of his ways are just.
Also, he is able to humble
all those who follow the path of pride. - Blessed are those who are persecuted in the cause of justice,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in accord with the law of the Lord. - And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
- The powerful suffer want and go hungry,
but those who seek the Lord want for no good thing. - He gives a home to those who are forsaken
and leads out prisoners amid chants of exultation,
while rebels are forced to live in an arid land. - To those who seek after glory and honor and immortality by persevering in good works, he will grant eternal life.
- Those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand people were added to their number.
- An ignorant man causes strife by his insolence,
but wisdom is found with those who take advice. - The Lord redeems the lives of those who serve him;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him. - The way of God is blameless,
and the Lord’s promise proves true;
he is a shield to all
who flee to him for safety. - Be on your guard that you do not lose what we have worked to accomplish so that you will receive your reward in full.
- The face of the Lord is turned against those who do evil,
to erase all memory of them from the earth. - Then Jesus said to those Jews who did believe in him,
“If you remain faithful to my word,
you will truly be my disciples.
You will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free.” - I reprove and discipline all those whom I love. Therefore, be sincere in your desire to repent.
- My life is in your hands;
deliver me from the power of my enemies,
from the clutches of those who pursue me. - Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to all those on whom his favor rests. - Therefore, while we have the opportunity, let us labor for the good of all, but especially for those members of the household of the faith.
- Therefore, he has the full power to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to intercede for them.
