Chinese (traditional)- But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
- For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
- Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him. - But in your great mercy you did not put an end to them or abandon them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
- When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze. - “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.” - Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. - Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. - The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.
- Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior. - May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands. - But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
- Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
and because I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you,
nations in exchange for your life. - Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago. - If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have preserved my life. - You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- I, even I, am he who comforts you.
Who are you that you fear mere mortals,
human beings who are but grass. - You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you. - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
- You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light. - The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding. - But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high. - Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth. - And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.Better a patient person than a warrior,
one with self-control than one who takes a city.
