- The Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous. - Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”

- A perverse person stirs up conflict,
and a gossip separates close friends. - He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. - The Lord sends poverty and wealth;
he humbles and he exalts. - Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.
- But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
- Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word.
- Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
- But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high. - Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
- Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute. - Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great:
He appeared in the flesh,
was vindicated by the Spirit,
was seen by angels,
was preached among the nations,
was believed on in the world,
was taken up in glory. - The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
- Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.
